Nutmeg   cat-item-58

Used in small dosages nutmeg can reduce flatulence, aid digestion, improve the appetite and treat diarrhea, vomiting and nausea. Nutmeg’s flavor and fragrance come from oil of myristica, containing myristicin, a poisonous narcotic. Myristicin can cause hallucinations, vomiting and epileptic symptoms. These effects will not be induced, however, even with very generous culinary usage. A pet would have to somehow gain access to the spice cupboard and consume large amounts of nutmeg for it to become harmful. Because of its very strong, concentrated taste, it is not appealing in its whole nut form.
