Angelica Tang Kuei

Made from fermented apple cider and may be helpful to improve digestion, skin and coat, urinary tract infections, and may be helpful for yeast infections.

Antioxidants   

Molecules that fight free radicals in the body that may be helpful in preventing cell damage in the body.

Anise Seed   

A see that may be helpful for treating dry cough.

Beta Carotene   

A vitamin that acts as an antioxidabnt to protect cells in the body from damage.

Berberis   

A shrub that may be helpful with urinary disturbances or bladder infections, joint/lower back pain.

Beet Pulp   

A soluble fiber that is an ideal prebiotic, low in protein but rich in calcium.

Barley   

Has the lowest Glycemic Index of all grains and is a good source of carbohydrates, plant proteins, manganese, and vitamin B.

Baobab   

A tree that may be helpful to calm and may help to maintain sleep, may help as an antioxidant, and may offer immune boosting properties.

Bananas   

A fruit that is high in potassium, vitamin B6, and vitamin C.

Atractylodes Rhizome   

A plant that may be helpful to balance the spleen, balance Qi (pronounced chi), and may balance the gastrointestinal tract.

Astragalus   

An herb that may be helpful to support the immune system

Ashwagandha   

An evergreen shrub that may be helpful to alleviate fatigue and to promote overall health. May also be helpful as an anti-inflammatory and to support immunity.

Bladder wrack (Fucus vesiculosus)   

A seaweed that may be helpful in the treatment of underactive thyroid glands (hypothyroidism) and goiter.

Black Walnut Hull   

The outer covering of the nut that may have strong antifungal properties and may be helpful against Candida (yeast) pinworms, ringworms, and tapeworms.

Black Cumin   

An herb that may be helpful in promoting digestion and may help to fight parasitic infections.

Black Cohosh   

An herb that may have anti-inflammatory properties and may have pain-relieving results.

Bison (Buffalo) Meal   

The fresh meat of a bison with the moisture removed. One pound of meal is equal to three pounds of whole meat

Bison (Buffalo)   

The fresh, whole meat from a bison.

Biotin   

Another name for vitamin B7 and mostly helps to break down fats and carbohydrates, and proteins in the body.

Biota Seed   

A seed that may be helpful for anxiety, promoting a healthy sleep cycle, and supports healthy digestion and nourishing the heart and kidneys.

Bilberry Fruit   

A fruit that may be helpful for visual disturbances or poor vision. May help with retinopathy, cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. May provide powerful antioxidants that provide support for whole body health. May be helpful in the prevention of eye damage due to free radical damage and may promote blood supply to the eyes.

Calcium   

An essential macro-mineral. It must be in proper balance with phorphorus. Essential for bone develoment and aids in blood coagulation.

Burdock/ Burdock Root   

A root that may be helpful to defend and strengthen the liver.

Bupleurum Root   

A root that may be helpful for liver disorders and liver support.

Bryonia   

A homeopathic remedy that may be helpful for joint injuries and arthritis which is worse with joint motion.

Brown Rice   

Brown rice is whole-grain rice with the hull still intact. It is full of natural fiber, which may help a pet’s digestion.

Brewer’s Dried Yeast   

Rich in B vitamins and antioxidants. Brewer’s yeast may be helpful for healthy skin, hair, eyes, and liver function.

Boswellia   

A tree that may be an effective anti-inflammatory and may be an effective pain killer and may prevent the loss of cartilage.

Borage Oil   

An Omega 6 fatty acid that is high in gamma linoleic acid that may be helpful to reduce inflammation in the body.

Bok Choy   

A vegetable that contains antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. May be helpful to support eyesight and the heart and overall health.

Carob   

Carob is made from the bean pods of the carob tree. Carob is high in vitamin B2, calcium, magnesium, and iron. Carob also contains vitamin B1, niacin and vitamin A. Carob may be helpful to support digestion.

Carnitine   

An amino acid, also known as L-Carnitine. May be helpful to pets with Dilated Cardiomypoathy (DCM).

Carbohydrates   

Carbohydrates are basiclly sugar molecules. There are two categories; simple and complex. Simple carbohydrates are generally refined sugars that may stress the pancreas. Complex carbs have a more complex structure that takes longer to digest and are less stressful on the pancreas. Complex carbs like barley, oats, rye and legumes also contain viyamins, minerals, and fiber along with some protein and fat.

Cantharis   

A homeopathic remedy that may be helpful to relieve symptoms of Urinary Tract Infections. Also helps to treat skin conditions such as scalds and burns.

Canola Oil- Green   

An ideal source of both Omega 6 and Omega-3 essential fatty acids. May be helpful to support a healthy heart, cholesterol levels, and risk of cancer.

Canola   

A crop with plants from which seeds are harvested and crushed to create canola oil and meal.

Calendula   

Is a plant that may be helpful be helpful to fight inflammation, viruses, and bacteria. Also, may be helpful for upset stomach, ulcers, as well as topically to encourage wound healing.

Calcium Iodate/Pottasium Iodate   

Sources of iodine, a mineral utilized by the body that may help to support thyroid function.

Calcium Carbonate   

A natural mineral used as a calcium supplement and less frequently as an acidity regulator, colouring, anti-caking agent or stabilizer.

CBD Oil   

An oil that is derived from cannabis and may be helpful in boosting the effectiveness of the endocannabinoid system. May have painkilling, anti-inflammatory effects, support a healthy heart and circulatory system, and contain compounds that may fight cancer, epilepsy, infections, and autoimmune disease. CBD may help to support cognitive function and may be neuroprotective.

Cayenne Pepper   

Used in small amounts to act as a catylyst that may speed up reactions in the digestive tract and circulatory system.

Cassia Gum   

Used as a gelling agent, thickener, emulsifying and stabilizing agent in some wet foods (cans mostly).

Casein   

Casein and whey are the protein portions of milk. Casein contains essential amino acids. It is digested more slowly than whey.

Cascara Sagrada   

The bark of a shrub that may be helpful to gently stimulate muscle contraction to encourage bowel movement.

Carthamus   

A plant that may be helpful to dispel blood stasis (slowing or pooling of the blood), discomfort, and invigorating blood.

Cartenoids   

Cartenoids are the pigments in the skin of plants. Thay contain valuable antioxidents.

Carrots   

An excellent source of vitamin A, potassium, and fiber. Carrots contain natural sugars, so too many may carrots at a time may be unhealthy for a dog or cat.

Chondroitin Sulfate   

One of the building blocks of joint cartiledge.It may be helpful in maintaining and rebuilding cartilage in the animal.

Choline Chloride   

A stable form of choline and is typically the form of choline used in pet foods.

Choline   

A B vitamin and an essential nutrient needed for proper brain function, cellular health, and liver detoxification.

Chicory   

A plant rich in prebiotics.

Chicken/Deboned Chicken   

The fresh, whole meat from a chicken.

Chicken Meal   

The fresh meat of the chicken with the moisture removed. One pound of meal is equal to three pounds of whole meat

Chicken Liver   

A rich source of high quality protein, vitamins A & D all all B vitamins.

Chicken Fat   

A specific fat only from chickens, rich in Omega 6 fatty acids.

Chelated Minerals   

Chelated minerals are also called protienated minerals.These are minerals bound to a protein or amnino acid to improve absorption.

Chamomile   

A flower that may be helpful for mild anxiety, stress, and insomnia and as a natural muscle relaxant.

Chaga Mushrooms   

A mushroom that may be helpful to protect the cells in the body therefore they may a good food to consider giving to pets that have had a cancer diagnosis or for cancer prevention. Chaga Mushrooms may support (not boost) the immune system and may contain anti-cancer properties.

Copaiba Oil   

A tree sap that may be helpful for pain relief, infections in and on the body, and to promote healing.

Colostrum   

Rich in nutrients, antibodies and antioxidents that support all life stages that may be helpful to the immune system.

Colloidal Silver   

Tiny silver particles in a liquid that may be helpful to prevent fungal, bacterial, and viral infections. May also be helpful to treat skin infections and to help skin injuries/cuts heal faster. May be helpful for ear infections, boosting the immune system, healing the gut, and for eye infections.

Collagen   

The most abundant protein in the body. It provides structure to tendons, ligaments, skin, and muscles.Natural collagen in the body may deplete with age and by offering collagen supplements or collagen chews or treats it may help to replenish natural collagen levels in the body.

Coenzyme Q10   

A supplement that may be helpful to generate energy in the cells. It may be successful in helping pets with mild cardiac disease.

Cod   

The fresh, whole meat from a cod.

Coconut Oil   

An oil that may be helpful in supporting immune digestion, joint health, and overall health.

Cobalt   

An essential part of vitamin B12 that may help to provide efficient hemoglobin production.

Clams   

The fresh, whole meat from a clam.

Citrus Pulp   

A dry carbohydrate concentrate and a source of both soluble and insoluble fiber in some pet foods.

Citric Acid   

A natural preservative and flavoring agent.

Cranberry   

A fruit that may be helpful to prevent the development of urinary tract infections by preventing certain bacteria from sticking to the urinary tract walls.

Cracked Barley   

Hulled barley put through the “cracker” to break whole grain kernels into smaller pieces.

Couch Grass   

A perennial grass that may be helpful as a gentle diuretic that may be useful to help the body to pass kidney stones. It may help with intense burning sensation.

Corydalis   

An herb that may be helpful to relieve pain, improve blood flow, moving energy throughout the body, and stomach ulcers.

Cornus   

A plant that may be helpful as an anti-allergic, antidiabetic, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antihistamine, and antimalarial properties. Cornus may be helpful to balance the liver and kidneys.

Copper Sulphate   

A form of copper used in limited amounts in pet foods that may be helpful to provide essential levels if copper.

Copper   

An essential micro mineral.

Dianthus   

A plant that may be helpful to promote urination and draining damp heat from the bladder.

DHA   

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an omega-3 fatty acid essential for proper eye and brain development in puppies and kittens.

D-Calcium Pantothenate (Vitamin B5)   

Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid) is an essential B vitamin necessary for the breakdown of fats and carbohydrates for energy, vitamin B5 is critical to manufacture red blood cells, and to support digestive health.

Dandelion

Dried Enterococcus   

A probiotic bacteria used in pet foods, treats and supplements.

Dried Egg   

Dried eggs are the highest quality protein available to pet food manufacturers. This form is highly digestible, and provides a great source of antioxidants and nutrients.

D-Mannose   

A kind of sugar that may be helpful to bind to the bad bacteria in the bladder to carry it out of the body via urine.

DL-Methinone   

An essential amino acid used in foods, treats and supplements to acidify urine and may be used in cases of Dilated CardioMyopathy (DCM).

Dl-Alpha Tocopherol Acetate   

A form of vitamin E used as a natural preservative in pet foods. Found in mixed tocopheral ingredients.

Dioscorea   

A Chinese yam that may be helpful to tonify the kidneys and spleen, stomach, and lungs.

Dicalcium Phosphate (DCP)   

May be helpful as a mineral supplement and dental abrasive. It may be helpful improve the texture of canned foods.

Diatomaceous Earth (Food grade)   

Made from fossilized remains of tiny aquatic organisms that contain microscopic particles that pierce the protective coating of parasites in the digestive tract, this may be helpful in dehydrating them and then killing them. Diatomaceous earth may be helpful in targeting larvae and eggs of parasites.

Evening Primrose Oil   

The oil from a plant that may be helpful to inhibit the body’s production of chemicals that cause inflammation.

Euphrasia   

A homeopathic remedy that may be helpful for eye infections.

Eucommia Bark   

A bark that may be helpful for a strong skeletal system and strong, flexible joints. As well may be helpful to balance the liver and kidneys.

Ethylenediamine Dihydroiodide   

An iodine supplement which may help to maintain proper function of the thyroid gland.

Egg Powder   

Fresh eggs with the moisture removed. A sustainable and highly digestible protein and fat source. There are different types of egg powder used, including whole egg, egg white and egg yolk powder.

Egg   

The highest quality protein available to pet food manufacturers. Their form is highly digestible, and they provide a great source of antioxidants and nutrients.

Echinacea   

An herb that may be helpful to kill bacteria like an antibiotic. It may also be a powerful immune booster to help the body to defend itself.

Ferrous Proteinate   

Iron that has been bonded to an amino acid that may improve absorption by the body

Folic acid (vitamin B 12) is important in red blood cell formation and for healthy cell growth and function.

Flaxseed   

A food that contains lignans. Lignans are antioxidants that may be helpful in supporting the immune system. Flaxseed may be helpful with inflammation and may support skin and coat, joints, kidneys, adrenal gland, and digestion.

Flavonoids   

Natural compounds found naturally in many fruits and vegetables. Flavonoids are rich in antioxidants.

Fiber   

A non-digestible carbohydrate essential for proper flow of food through the digestive tract to get proper digestion and absorption and a firm stool.

Ferrous Sulfate   

A form of iron used in pet foods, treats and supplements.

Ginger   

An antioxidant that may help in gas evacuation produced by gastrointestinal fermentation. Also may be helpful as an expectorant, anti-emetic (to control nausea and vomiting), prevention of coronary artery disease. Ginger is a natural enzyme action on protein digestion, probiotic that may support of the natural gut flora, anti-diarrhea properties, liver protection, and it may also be helpful as an antidote to several food toxins. Ginger may also have an antiprotozoal effect that may make it useful against giardia, coccidia, and other protozoa.

Gentian Root   

A root that may be helpful to encourage appetite and digestion by encouraging the production of digestive juices.

Garlic   

In smaller amounts, garlic is completley is safe and healthy for pets. Contains antibacterial and antiviral properties

Gardenia   

A plant that may help to reduce inflammation due to urinary tract infections.

Garbanzo Beans   

Rich in protein and fiber and an excellent source of carbohydrates. May help to control blood sugar.

Fructoooligosaccharides (FOS)   

A form of prebiotic and dietary fiber. Travels intact through the intestinal tract to support the growth of healthy bacteria.

Free-range   

Free-range is when an animal is kept in natural conditions to move freely as they wish. A more humane way to raise animals.

Free Radicals   

Are unstable atoms in the body and are linked to aging and disease

Frankincense   

A resin that may be helpful to move blood and Qi and to relieve pain, reduce swelling, and may help to heal wounds.

Herring   

The fresh, whole meat from a herring fish.

Hemp Seed Oil   

An oil that may be helpful to heart health, and cardiovascular function, and may help to prevent degenerative diseases. Contain 3:1 ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acids. Contains DHA to improve brain health and provides excellent support for skin and coat. Hemp seed oil provides antifungal, antiviral, and antibacterial properties.

Haddock   

The fresh, whole meat from a haddock fish.

Guar Gum   

A binder to prevent separation in some pet foods like canned foods.

Green-Lipped Muscle (New Zealand)   

Green-lipped mussel (Perna canaliculus) is a New Zealand shellfish. Rich in fatty acids (Contain 90!) but most abundant in EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexanoic acid). They contain high levels of glycosaminoglycan (GAGs) which may assist in the repair of damaged joint tissues and provide anti-inflammatory effects.

Green Tea   

Made from leaves that contains powerful antioxidants and may be helpful to reduce the risk of cancer.

Gotu Kola   

A plant that may be helpful to increase blood vessel and collagen growth. Also, may provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Gotu Kola may be helpful to help calm stressed animals.

Glucosamine Hydrochloride   

One of the building blocks of joint cartiledge. Helps to thicken joint fluid.

Ginkgo Biloba   

An herb that may be helpful to support and protect long-term cognitive health.

Hydrolyzed   

Both protein and fat are sometimes broken down or hydrogenated to change their structure. The most common hydrolyzed ingredient is animal protein. Hydrolyzed protein molecules are broken down (shortened) to reduce their ability to cause an allergic response. The process has the disadvantage of reducing nutritional value and palatability. The risk of diarrhea may also be possible, especially if there is no transition time.

The use of water to breakdown substances.

Hydrangea   

A flowering plant that may be helpful to dissolve bladder and kidney stones. Hydrangea may also be helpful for bladder infections.

A plant that may provide benefits to the skin, hair, and bones. Horsetail may support bone heath, may help as a natural diuretic, may promote wound healing, and may provide anti-inflammatory benefits.

Horseradish   

A plant that may be helpful as an expectorant and may encourage mucous to drain from the body. It also may dilate nasal passageways and may be a bronchial dilator. This would allow more oxygen to be absorbed into the lungs.

Honey-Fried Licorice Root   

A root that may be helpful in strengthening the Qi of the spleen and heart, moistening the lung, clearing heat toxins, calming muscle spasms, and moderating the effects of other herbs.

A unit of measure 1 kilocalorie equals 1,000 calories.

Kelp   

A type of seaweed that is high in protein, minerals, and amino acids. Kelp may be helpful to improve energy levels and to strengthen the immune system.

Kangraroo Meal   

The fresh meat of a kangaroo with the moisture removed. One pound of meal is equal to three pounds of whole meat.

Kale   

A green vegetable that is considered a superfood as it contains a wide array of nutrients.

Jujube Seed   

A seed that may be helpful to calm the mind and to relieve mental tension.

Irish Moss   

A species of red algae that may be helpful for strengthening the respiratory system by boosting the immune system. It may be helpful for soothing coughing and other lung conditions.

Inulin   

An ideal prebiotic naturally found in chicory.

Insositol   

A substance that helps regulate the function and lifespan of cells including growth and death.

Lungwort   

An evergreen plant that may be helpful to thin out mucous to help expel it from the lungs.

L-Tryptophan   

An amino acid that may be helpful to encourage the release of serotonin and melatonin in the brain.

Lignan   

A fiber found in plants and may be used in some pet foods

Licorice   

A plant that may be helpful to strengthen the Qi of the spleen and heart, moistens the lung, clears heat toxins, calms muscular spasms, and moderates the effects of other herbs. Often used to soothe and protect the digestive tract and helps with coughing.

Lemon Balm   

An herb that may be helpful to strengthen the brain and its ability to protect from stress and shock. Lemon Balm may work well for digestive upset that is caused by stress or anxiety.

Lecithin   

Derived from many sources including eggs, sunflower oil, and canola. It may enhance digestion of dietary fat, supports a heathy coat.

L-Carnitine   

Carnitine is an essential amino acid. L-carnitine is an ideal ingredient in food, treats and supplements designed for weight management because it encourages the metabolism of fat.

Larch Arabinogalactian   

A prebiotic fiber that may be helpful to support the growth of friendly bacteria in the gut.

A specific concentrated fish meal high in Omega-3 faty acids.

Meadowsweet   

An herb that may be helpful to regulate the digestive acid levels therefore protecting the lining of the gut.

Marshmallow Root   

An herb used in respiratory supplements that may be helpful to ease coughing and ease discomfort.

Niacin   

B vitamin used by the body to turn food into energy.

Nettle Leaf   

A leaf that may be helpful as an anti-inflammatory, diuretic, and supports the kidneys

N-Acetyl Glucosamine   

A form of glucosamine that may be helpful to target inflammation response in smooth muscle of bladder wall and lining.

Myrrh   

A tree resin that may be helpful as an antibacterial and may be helpful to reduce inflammation, support healing, and may be helpful to address discomfort.

Mullein   

A flowering plant that may be helpful as an expectorant which may help the body to remove excess mucous.

MSM   

Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is a naturally occurring supplement that may be used as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant for conditions such as arthritis and some cancers.

Mixed Tocopherols   

Alpha, Beta, and Gamma Tocopherols are forms of vitamin E and when combined make up the ingredient Mixed Tocopherols. Mixed tocopherols are often used as a natural preservative in pet foods.

Miscanthus grass   

A fiber source that may be used in some pet foods.

Offal   

Does not refer to a particular list of organs liver, tripe, heart, kidneys, etc. Included are most internal organs except for muscle meat or bone. Offal is typically included in raw diet to provides essential vitamins and minerals.

Oatmeal   

Finely ground whole oats, a superfood.

Oat Fiber   

Helps to move food through the digestive tract slowly, which further helps to optimize the absorption of nutrients. Oat Fiber can improve stool quality.

Nux Vomica   

A homeopathic remedy that may be helpful to restore the digestive system after digestive upset.

Notoginseng Root   

A root that may be helpful to stop bleeding, relieve pain, and to reduce swelling.

Noni (a fruit native to Southeast Asia and Australia)   

May be helpful to improve joint health, may increase physical endurance, and may support bone health.
